HOW TO CLEAN THE RANGE HOOD FILTER?
Range hoods are frequently used appliances in households. They not only keep the kitchen well-ventilated but also effectively clean the air. However, over time, if not cleaned or cleaned improperly, grease and oil build-up on the filter can have a detrimental effect on health. If you’re unsure about how to clean the range hood filter effectively, follow the steps outlined in this article.
Why is it important to clean the grease and oil and maintain the range hood filter?
There are numerous bacteria that adhere to the range hood filter. Typically, families use range hoods after cooking to cleanse the kitchen air. The hot air from food, along with the grease and oil, is drawn into the hood and accumulates on the filter. Without proper cleaning, these can lead to an increasing build-up of bacteria. This can adversely affect the health of household members.
Helps save costs: Regular and proper cleaning of the range hood filter enhances its durability. This ensures the hood functions more efficiently, experiences fewer breakdowns, and has an extended lifespan. This ultimately saves you money on repairs and minimizes the need for buying a new unit.
How to Clean the Range Hood
First and foremost, unplug the power cord from the socket. This is a standard safety measure before cleaning any electrical appliance to avoid potential hazards or electrical shocks.
2.1. Cleaning the Grease Filter
Step 1: Remove the grease filters from the range hood.
Depending on the material and level of dirt on the filters, you can choose from various types of cleaning agents.
For stainless steel hoods:
Detach the parts and soak them in a solution that removes grease. Use a strong water jet to clean stubborn areas.
Thoroughly rinse and dry with a clean, soft cloth.
Step 2: Soak and clean the filters.
Immersing the filters in water helps to quickly loosen stubborn dirt before you scrub.
2.2. Cleaning the Gaps, Edges, and Installation Areas of the Filter
Use a specialized cleaning solution to wipe away grease and dirt from the gaps, edges, and installation areas of the filter:
Apply the cleaning solution to a scrubbing pad and scrub the persistent stains on the surface.
Afterwards, wipe it with clean water.
